East Valley Lacrosse complements local scholastic lacrosse programs by providing recreational leagues, tournaments and instructional programs during the off-season. All events are governed by the following six principles:
Participation - Our number one goal is building a passion for the game in every player so that s/he can benefit from the lessons that lacrosse teaches. All players are given an equal opportunity to play regardless of size, skill or age. Efforts will be made to eliminate monetary barriers in cases of financial need.
Sportsmanship - All events are to be conducted in a positive, supportive environment where players are expected to let competition bring out only the best in them. Although lacrosse can be highly competitive, we encourage our participants to temper their competitive fire with reason.
Cooperation - Everyone has more fun when a helpful attitude prevails. That attitude might include staying after a game to warm up a goalie for the next game or helping the event organizers pick up equipment at the end of the day. If a team gets an unfair advantage due to an obvious mistake by an official, the players on the team that gained the advantage should promptly and politely notify the official so it can be corrected.
Instruction - The primary roles of the adults involved should be support (parents) and instruction (coaches). We discourage parents and coaches from becoming too emotionally attached to the success of any single team or player.
Leadership - Whenever possible, we provide opportunities for experienced players to "give back to the game" by teaching young players new skills and serving as team captains.
Equality - It is inevitible that we
will have differences of skill on the field. However, we try to ensure
that all participants are given equal opportunities to play, improve, and
have fun. No player will be given extra attention because s/he is more
talented than another. All rules will be administered equally.
